Then I
saw heaven wide open, and before
my eyes appeared
a white horse,
whose
rider is called faithful and true,
for His
judgment and His warfare is just…
and the
name by which He is known is the Word of God.
Revelation 19:11-13
Revelation is filled with scenes of worship, where Jesus is called by many symbolic names. In this passage, John again echoes the words of his own gospel:
In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
And the
Word was God. He was with God in the
beginning.
The Word
became flesh and made His dwelling among us.
John 1:1-2, 14
We worship the One who was and is – the Alpha and Omega, the Lamb of God –
The Word.
O worship
the King, all glorious above
O
gratefully sing His power and His love.
Our Shield
and Defender, the Ancient of days,
Pavilioned
in splendor and girded with praise.
