The
law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
The
statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The
precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The
commands of the Lord are right, giving light to the eyes.
The
fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The
ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.
Psalm 19:7-9
Law: Rules
of conduct
Statute: An established rule or formal regulation
Precept: A commandment or direction meant as a rule of action or
conduct
Command: An order, direction or mandate
Fear: To feel reverence or awe for
Ordinance: A direction or command of an authoritative nature
David used every term for “law” that he could think of to
relay to us the power and blessings that are found inn the Word of the
Lord. He is not talking here just about
the Ten Commandments. He is placing his
faith in ALL of the words that proceed from the Almighty.
